In Scripture, the Word of God is likened to a seed, in the parable of the sower found in Mark 4:3-20, in verse 3 and 4 Jesus says, “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow, and it happened as he sowed that some seed fell by the wayside.”

The very start of this teaching Jesus says to the great multitude, Listen, Jesus wants your attention, are you paying attention? Good, He continues with the parable and on conclusion, His disciples ask Him concerning the parable. A parable is a story which has certain natural elements in it that illustrates a moral attitude or religious principle.

In verse 11, Jesus makes this statement, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside all things come in parables.” A mystery is a hidden truth, in I Corinthians 2: 9-10. Verse 9 begins by saying, “But as it is written: Eye has not seen not ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Now a lot of people quote this one verse and say, “there we cannot know what God has for us,” but the scripture goes on to say, “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes the deep things of God.” Read also verses 11-16.

Let's go back to Mark 4:11. “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God.” There are many mysteries regarding the kingdom of God. This is just one of them and Jesus said that you should know this mystery. Verse 14 “The sower sows the Word.” There you have it. Mystery solved. The Word of God is a seed, which is planted in our hearts and in due course, will produce a harvest, which will also produce when planted in the hearts of others.

I Peter 1:23 says, “Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the Word of God which lives and abides forever.” The seed has no ability to produce a harvest unless it is planted. Reading God's Word, speaking God's Word and also listening to God's Word is not only planting the incorruptible seed, but also watering it. Without water, a seed even planted in good soil will die. A continual reading and studying of the Word of God will produce for you. If you are sick, you need to see through the Word that God shows no partiality (Acts 10:34).

He loves you just the same as He loves Jesus. That's awesome right there (John 17:23.) Through the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, grace has been made available to everyone who believes the gospel, the good news. Grace is the unmerited favor of God. We didn't deserve it. We could not produce it through works or good deeds. It could not be purchased by silver or gold. It is God's Grace, and with this Grace, you can have eternal life, healing for your body, deliverance from oppression and addiction, provision for any need. That's Good News!! What's next? Go and sow the seed in every person you meet. The seed will do its job. Your job is to sow. The Harvest is ripe.
