With the Democrats seemingly in control, Congress is pushing to ram gun control down Americans' collective throats.

Earlier in January, Congress submitted HR 127, which would create a national firearms registration system open to everyone. This bill also would make it mandatory for all gun owners to report where and when they purchased their guns, as well as how they are being stored. Gun owners also would have to be federally licensed and it would be a requirement to have a psychological evaluation by a government approved psychologist, who would also talk to family members and neighbors. In addition, it would be a crime to possess guns with large-capacity magazines.

However, Chris Bryson, who lives in Custer County, has taken notice of these bills and has written a resolution for counties to oppose the proposed legislation now pending in Congress.

“This will not protect sanctuary counties,” he said. “(HR) 127 is fairly detrimental to the Second Amendment. It doesn't look like our county is going to be protected against this federal bill if it passes. So I approached the (Custer County) Board (of Commissioners) and got on the agenda and asked them to make an adjustment to our sanctuary county either one to adjust it to write another resolution.” Bryson then wrote a resolution for Custer County that would provide protection from the federal law for Custer County.

“If (Congress) actually passed this bill, the things in that bill makes it quite easy for them to come take guns from people,” he added. “There's a lot of things in there to make it almost impossible for people to register and do it legally. (Owning guns is) outlawed essentially.”

But approving a new resolution against HR 127 will protect the sheriffs from federal law.

“The sheriffs are going to have to make the decisions to enforce those law or not,” Bryson said. “The sheriff is going to have to take your guns if it ever comes to that. By propping this up against the federal bill, it protects our sheriff.”

He said he is also concerned about HR 1.

“HR1 is the most detrimental thing to this country,” Bryson said. “It is the end of any free election ever, ever again. If they pass HR1, there will never be anybody but Democrat elected ever again. That's the doom of this country. The three main things against (this bill is) they are making all illegals able to vote in federal elections. They're making it illegal for anybody, but an appointed official to challenge anything.”

The third thing is they will automatically register illegals to vote, using state records like food stamps and drivers' licenses.

“The reason they just passed the immigration bill is those are voters they're bringing in,” Bryson added. “They don't care about anybody else. They want those voters in so they can automatically register them.”

Bryson has been studying these laws by going to Congress.gov link to learn what is going on. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and international business, as well as a master's degree in defense and strategy from the Institute of National Security Studies from the University of Texas. He also has experience all over the world negotiating access to places people “don't want me to go.”
