Florence Pioneer Museum & Florence Brewing Company are co-hosting a block-party fundraiser for Florence Pioneer Museum's Historic Building Fund from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, May 8. The museum will be selling homemade chili, prepared by locals, in handmade bowls, made by P&G Pottery that participants get to take home for just $10!

The event will be made even more enjoyable with live music by Apache Creek Fiddlers from 1-4 p.m., Fired Up Wood Fired Pizza, beginning at 4 p.m., craft sodas and 20 taps of craft beer in the 200 block of Pikes Peak Avenue.

The funds raised will be designated to help complete the very much needed preservation of the 1894 Braden-Griffith Building that houses the museum. This structure is the only three-story, all sandstone building still standing in Florence. It is in very sound condition; however, the mortar has worn down over the years due to environmental conditions. Last year, because of generous donations, the north side received its face-lift and now the rest of the building needs to match. The approximate cost is $30,000-$35,000.

The Museum is applying for two grants to assist in this historic restoration. Proceeds from fundraisers in 2021 will be used as matching funds for these grants.
