As a child, hearing the stories about Daniel in the Lion's Den, Moses in the wilderness and David fighting the giant captivated my imagination.

In 2018, Sanctus Real, a Christian rock band, took these stories and wrote a song, they titled “Confidence.” They released in the album “Changed,” which peaked at No. 10 on the U.S. Hot Christian Songs chart.

At the same time, the song also was sent to a Christian radio station the same day. It wasn't long before it reached the fifth spot in the top 10.

I'm not much for listening to rock songs, but this one is outstanding. It starts with “I'm not a warrior/I'm too afraid to lose/I feel unqualified for what you're calling me to/but Lord with your strength/I've got no excuse/'cause broken people are exactly who you use.”

According to the band, “Confidence is a prayer. It's a prayer to see the world selflessly. Not a prayer to be in the lion's den, but a prayer to have such unshakable faith in the kingdom of heaven that we are willing to go through dangerous things.”

Although Moses never got to go into the Promised Land, he was able to see it from the mountain top before he died.

The refrain goes like this, “So give me faith like Daniel in the lion's den/Give me hope like Moses in the wilderness/Give me a heard like David, Lord be my defense/So I can face my giants with confidence.”

The song has a good beat and doesn't sound like some of the rock songs I've heard in the past.

I love the verse “You took a shepherd boy/and made him a king/ so I'm gonna' trust you and give you everything/I'll be a conquerer/'cause you fight for me/I'll be a champion claiming your victory.”

Isaiah 12:2 says “God indeed is my savior; I am confident and unafraid. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior.”

We know without a doubt, we can have confidence in our Lord, who saved us from our sin.
