This morning, in a landmark decision, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending nearly 50 years of anti-life judicial activism and giving individual states the power to allow, limit or ban the practice altogether. The ruling came in the court's opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which centered on a Mississippi law that banned abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The state of Mississippi requested the Supreme Court to strike down a lower court ruling that stopped the 15-week abortion ban from taking place.

Congressman Doug Lamborn issues the following statement:

“I applaud the Supreme Court for making the right decision! The 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, made half a century ago, was tragically wrong and caused insurmountable damage to our nation. Human life is precious from conception to natural death and this ruling will save countless innocent lives.

“In the days and weeks following this decision, I will work with my pro-life colleagues in Congress to continue to reject extreme policies that seek to allow late-term abortions and taxpayer dollars to fund these elective procedures. While today we are rejoicing, the fight now turns to the states where the American people must go on the offense for life.

“We must defend the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for every American - born and unborn. I will never waiver in the fight to protect the most vulnerable among us."

From his first day serving in the Colorado legislature, Congressman Lamborn introduced more pro-life legislation than anyone in the history of Colorado. The Congressman has never wavered in his defense of life.
