The 2020 elections in the United States of America has left a majority of voters across this nation with a mind-numbing lack of trust in the integrity of our election system. The abnormalities of the past election left ample room for doubt in the minds of all thinking Americans. Computers built in not so friendly Communist China; polling places across the nation closing at undesignated times leaving ballots unsecured. Biden's vote numbers rising faster than a hot air balloon only equaled by the bile rising in patriotic American throats. Asking if most Americans think the 2020 elections were rigged is comparable to asking if your tent folds in a violent rainstorm, will you get wet? The answers are simply 'yes it was, and yes you will, period,'

Having said that we must now say this, elections are decided county by county and state by state in this nation of independent freedom loving people. Colorado is made up of 64 separate counties, some large, some small, some red, and some blue. All 64 County Clerks found their feet held to the fire as passionate sometimes emotional constituents demanded answers to the question of the hour; how secure was our county's voting system? Were computers flipping votes? Were ballots fairly counted? Were ballots kept secure and yada, yada, yada? While most Americans are fair minded and slow to anger once riled, they can be a significant force to contain. We must call upon ourselves and our neighbors not to tar everyone with the same brush. Point in case, do not judge Fremont County officials guilty for what officials in neighboring counties may or may not have done. Keep in mind that the Fremont County officials' authority is limited to Fremont County.

The open forum hosted at the Fremont County Republican Headquarters drew a record setting crowd of patriotic minded constituents. County Clerk Justin Grantham gave the gathering an all-inclusive overview of exactly how his staff conducts elections. This presentation began with A to Z and ended with 1 to … leaving no question unanswered as long as it dealt with Fremont County elections. As always attendees were asked to save their questions for the Q and A session and refrain from interrupting the speaker during his presentation. This format has always worked well in the past, allowing the speaker to present a comprehensive program and answer questions at the end. Unfortunately, this overflow crowd contained some members of our community that had already made up their minds and seemingly only wished to disrupt Mr. Grantham and keep him from communicating his point with other attendees. After several repeated interruptions and reminders, facilitator Rick Castor invited the group to leave if they could not follow the rules.

To his credit, Mr. Grantham was able to deflect the irritants and keep his focus on the goal of this forum, election security. He went into a detailed explanation of when and how ballots are collected from drop boxes and other locations. Bipartisan teams oversee the elections, and all ballots are kept in a secured room. Access is limited to five staff members including Mr. Grantham himself. As you might suspect, most questions were about the Dominion computers and software. People have an ingrained and understandable mistrust of anything that has its origins in China. Especially when it has tentacles that reach into our elections. However, we must focus our attention on the trust we place in our own elected officials, our election judges and other neighbors and community members whose job it is to keep a critical eye on Fremont County Elections.

Transparency is the key to trust and our County Clerk has offered transparency that leaves little room for doubt. Mr. Grantham offered to allow any constituent to come to his office for a complete tour and break down on what happens during the election process. These are troubling times to be sure and we can only hope to control what transpires in our own county. Obviously, all counties and states are not as blessed as we are here in Fremont County. If you feel like the elections were in any way unfair here in Fremont County, please take Mr. Grantham up on his very generous offer. Drop in for a visit and see for yourself what is happening with the election integrity in our county.
