The City of Cañon City is excited to announce that Travis Payne was promoted as the city's new Water Superintendent on Friday, Oct. 15.

Travis was hired into that position after having 17 years of service and experience in the water industry and with the City of Cañon City's Water Department. Travis has been an employee with the City since January 2004 when he was hired as a distribution utility worker. In March 2005, Travis promoted to water treatment plant operator, where he gained experience in the theory, principals and practices of the design, construction, maintenance and operation of a 22 million gallon per day water treatment plant. In November 2014, Travis promoted to the position of chief plant operator, where he has been ever since. He has worked closely with our previous Water Superintendent, Bob Hartzman, to learn the ins and outs of running the City's Water Department.

Travis is a fourth generation born and raised in Cañon City and is raising his two children, Allison and Cohen, here with his wife Anna Payne. He is “looking forward to continuing the work of ensuring our drinking water and water sources are of the highest quality.”

The City is looking forward to continuing to provide the highest quality of service and drinking water under Travis's professional experience and supervision.

City Administrator Ryan Stevens said, “We always appreciate the opportunity to promote from within and we are fortunate to have someone of Travis's knowledge and ability to step up into a key position for the city.“
