Your spirit has a voice, your soul has a voice and your flesh or body has a voice. When your spirit speaks, it speaks faith filled words, words that encourage, words that build you up, the voice of the spirit speaks in line with the Word of God. Jesus said in John 6:63. “It is the Spirit who gives life, the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life.”
When your soul speaks, it speaks in the line of reasoning, “shall I do this or not?” It reasons and fluctuates, that's why we need to renew our minds so the soul can side with the spirit and not be persuaded otherwise (Romans 12:1-2). When our soul is renewed by the Word of God, natural reasoning becomes subservient to the renewed mind, which in turn draws from the spirit, which is already in tune the will and purposes of God. This is one reason we do not see results more often because we have not taken the time to renew our minds; therefore the un-renewed mind sides with the flesh and it's two against one, the soul and the flesh against the spirit. See Galatians 5:16-17. We have a responsibility to feed our spirits, renew our minds and subdue our flesh. See also Ephesians 2:3 and I Thessalonians 5:23.
If you don't believe your flesh has a voice, try missing a meal or two.
Stay blessed and in the Word.
