House Democrats recently passed a partisan reconciliation bill which includes many items in their radical left wing agenda. This legislation doubles the number of IRS agents, does not include Hyde Amendment protections, provides $550 billion for the Green New Deal, reinstates state and local tax deductions for millionaires, increases taxes on small businesses and raises taxes on natural gas, increasing the costs at the pump and to heat our homes this winter. Contrary to claims by the White House that this legislation will cost zero, many nonpartisan groups estimate this legislation could cost as much as $4.9 trillion dollars over the next 10 years.
Congressman Doug Lamborn issued the following statement:
“I vehemently oppose the Democrat's big government socialism bill. This legislation seeks to fundamentally change America by adding new entitlements, allowing taxpayer dollars to be used to fund abortions, giving billions to push the Green New Deal, and granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. In addition, this bill provides nearly $80 billion for the IRS to add 87,000 agents to spy on American's bank accounts. This bill also includes tax cuts for millionaires in states like New York and California, which Colorado taxpayers will have to subsidize, while taxing small businesses throughout the country. This legislation is radical and detrimental to America.”
“This year, we have seen massive spending and record deficits. With out-of-control inflation and massive debt increases, the last thing our country can afford is more spending. This partisan bill must be defeated in the Senate.”
