Can you believe it? Labor Day is already in our rearview mirror. Summer is about at an end and Fall is on its way with all the beauty of the season, the changing colors of the leaves, the hint of snow in the air, and thoughts of all the wonders to come as the seasons come and go. Right now, however it is imperative that all freedom loving Fremont County patriots employ their laser focus on our own backyard. The creeping Blue Sludge, that is the Democratic Party is on the move. They would like nothing better than to take over the entire state of Colorado with their Marxist views.

Yes, this does seem like a daunting task but like all monumental undertakings this is really as simple as turning off the T.V., getting off the sofa and taking part in our community meetings. One simple step at a time, we need to find out what is going on inside the classroom. Parents we need to speak with our children every day, find out what they are being taught and raise holy heck when teachers or others overstep their bounds. Give your children proper guidance. It may not seem like it, but they do listen when temptation is waved under their noses those words of advice will come back to them giving them the courage to say NO. That can only happen if we the adults keep the lines of communication open. They can't hear what we fail to say. We need to attend Commissioner meetings, City Council meetings and school board meetings. 'We the People' elect these representatives to do our will, not theirs. Be sure they know exactly what your will is. Many of these elected officials would love to see your faces at these public meetings. Those who cringe when they see us are the ones, we need to be sure do not get our vote again. Never forget no matter how lopsided things seem, we hold the power in our hands. We voted them in, and we can vote them out!

One person does not have to attend every meeting all the time; this should be a team effort. When an area of our local community government is veering off course, putting corporate matters before the needs of their constituents, we need to step up in force and let these people know this is not what 'we the people' want and more to the point this is not what 'we the people' will tolerate. Even now, our state is undergoing redistricting, do any of us really understand how this will turn out? Will we be losing the representatives we voted for? Elected officials like Sen. Dennis Hisey, Congressional reps, like Stephanie Luck, and Ron Hanks, and others. These persons were voted in because they have gained our trust, they are the officials we here in Fremont County want. What about the Canadian Gold Grab, being conducted by the Zephyr people. Have 'we the people' made our wishes known loud and clear? Have we banded together and protested at the Commissioners meeting, or are we just going to sit back and keep up a low grumble as this foreign company is allowed to ravage and forever destroy the beauty that is Cañon City and surrounding Fremont County? Are we willing to allow apathy to take down our County and worse yet our Country? Our children deserve better; we deserve better.

Recently a Vietnam veteran told me, “I signed up and went to Vietnam because I did not want my children to have to go to war,” with a sound of resignation in his voice he continued, “Now after all we sacrificed back then, we see that our children, and grandchildren will not only have to fight a war, but they will have to fight it in the United States, they will have to fight to protect our home land; the time is fast approaching.” Shaking his head in resignation, not defeat he finished by saying, “I see no other way out now. Joe Biden's treasonous betrayal of America has left us with no other path to walk if we choose to remain a free nation; may God Bless America.” Another veteran said, “When I was a child, I could ride my bicycle anywhere without fear and if I got out of line, my mom would know it before I got home. Neighbors looked out for neighbors.” Then with a heartfelt sight he added, “That was what I was fighting for. That was what made the risk of losing your life, or arms and legs worth the price. Now seeing the shameful withdrawal, the unforgivable leaving of US. citizens, allies,\ and even our warrior dogs behind in Afghanistan,” the courageous veterans voice broke and tears were clearly visible in his eyes when he was able, he finished saying, “I pray every night, please don't let it end like this.”

While it is true many of us simply can't go off to war but please don't think we are so easily excused, there is much we can and must do before our time on earth is through. Yes, this is being directed at the retired folks and all the hard-working moms and dads who can muster the energy to “Be Informed***Get Involved” your country needs you! As we listen to Circle Back Jen Psaki, and Pentagon spokesman um, uh, Kirby, recall what your beloved ol' granny would have said, 'That is a lot of hemin' and hawing and she would have no doubt kicked their sorry backsides to the curb. Time to ask are we any less capable than our dear old common-sense grannies? Have faith and take heart knowing we can land a solid blow for freedom right here in our own backyard. Let's be sure we attend all the meetings we can, put together an e-mail list of freedom loving patriots you know and remind them to pass on every bit of information you get to everyone they know. Let's be sure our elected officials know that we are serious, and we are seriously watching them. Right now, two of the biggest perils our great nation faces are apathy and inaction. Please take a stand, invite a neighbor or friend to attend meetings with you. We can still save America; the pendulum can swing back from blue to red, but we need to stand up together and give it a mighty push. For time and location of these public meetings please check page 3 of this paper under the column heading (Important Dates in Fremont County). Time is of the essence!
