As of Dec. 1, Cañon Framing will officially be located in Fremont Center for the Arts (FCA). According to FCA's Executive Director Kevin Cundiff, “When I learned that Cañon Framing was closing I rushed over to talk to the owner to find out what the plans were for all the inventory and equipment.” Cundiff realized what a loss it would be to area artists and the community at large when the business shuttered.

Cundiff put together a strategic plan and asked his board to consider moving the business - lock, stock and barrel - to the Fremont Center for the Arts building. After additional research and planning, the board approved the proposal.

Cañon Framing has been around since 1994, and Becca See had owned the Main Street business for 17 of those years. See is retiring from the framing business, but plans to stay in the area. She wants to take a breather to finish her house and to start painting again. Becca does acrylics on canvas.

With regard to the purchase by FCA, Becca stated, “I am so pleased Cañon Framing will continue to serve the community and the business will also help support our local art center.” She went on to say that her customers are pleased to know they will still have a place for their framing needs.

Cundiff echoes the positive customer reaction to the news. “As soon as the word got out about the move, we started getting orders. We have set up the framing business on the main floor in the southwest corner of the building and look forward to welcoming more customers as the word continues to spread through the community.”

Cañon Framing will continue to maintain the same hours from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday and can be reached at (719) 275-2790.
